Migrating from Next.js to Vite: Building a Static-First PBX Frontend
Victor MalaiPBX.IM migrated their frontend from Next.js to Vite + React in PBX 2.0.0, replacing an over-engineered setup where SSR was fully disabled and Next.js's server runtime added complexity without value. The migration preserved all components, business logic, and tooling while swapping only the build pipeline, producing a pure static dist/ folder deployable anywhere without a Node process. The tradeoff is deliberate: Vite's static-first architecture fits their multi-environment VoIP deployments better than Next.js's server-oriented feature set.
